...25th of May, ( not really a wise time to be in goa... considering the temperature and humidity, but all other things are quiet nice none the less )
the time...
....0112hrs IST, its the momentous occasion of adding another to the GSB ranks, the moonze or the thread ceremony as some know it plays a big part in the little life of every, to be brahmin kid. Its no joke.. the stress is huge especially considering the so called insertion of the frog into the thigh ( for those coming in late, its a tradition to scare the poor kid, saying that a huge frog is going to be inserted into their thigh during the course of the ceremony, why and how this thing started no one knows, but its been around in these parts from the times of our forefathers, and for those not from around here, its not true, just a sick but highily effective joke. )
The big day is preceeded by the devkarem, what... why... dont ask me... not sure myself, but its there and almost as big as the moonze itself.
Now what really happens is the kids head gets shaved and he gets thought several mantras, is proclaimed a brahmin etc, blah... blah.... blah.... dont get me wrong, not that i am not interested and all, its really a treasured moment in the kids life as it was in mine a long time ago, its after all our good old tradition and culture, something very unique to us, something that makes us different from the rest of the world and very proud at that.
now back to the point, it was Kunals moonze ( my uncle's son ) and the guy was understandbly having a blast ( at least looks to be, once he came to know that the frog bit was all a joke ) . some snaps for u to catch up on.
